APEDALE, (Staffordshire) not far from Stone, is of note only for its iron ore, which, tho' of the worst sort, yet being used with others to make it better, serves pretty well for two-penny nails, and sheeting nails for ships. This was for a long time the seat and demesne of the Delves, and came by marriage to Sir Robert Sheffield, Knt. recorder of London, in whose family it remain'd, 'till it was sold by Edmund, Ld. Sheffield.
