AQUILATE, (Staffordshire) on the b. of Shropshire, near Newport, was formerly the estate of Tho. Scrimshaw, a prothonotary
of the Common Pleas, and takes its name of aqua lata, from a large head of Water, or Mere, just below it, which is noted
for jacks, and carps, &c. and some floating islands.
