ASHTON in the WALL, (Northamptonshire) near Chipping-Warden, so called, because it slood on a wall, or vallum, formerly
raised by the Romans against the incursions of the Britons from the forest of Ardenne in Warwickshire. This was the estate
of Dudley, so infamous in the R. of Hen. VII.
