ASTON, (Staffordshire) near Stone and Birmingham, is a manor, which, in the R. of Hen. III. was divided bet. the Venables, Barons of Kinderton, and the family of the Marshals, but was afterwards united in the Leighs of Knightley; from whom it passed by the Stanleys and Moyles's to the Heninghams, a Suffolk family. Sir Thomas Holte, Bart, who was ambassador to Spain, in the R. of Ch. I. left 300 l. for building, and 88 l. a year for endowing a hos. here; and it is now, or was lately, the seat of Sir Clobery Holte, Bart.
