BARSTON, (Warwickshire) on the r. Blith, a little to the W. of Berkeswell, of which p. 'tis a hamlet, was formerly the estate of the Kts. templars and hospitallers; but after the ref. Q. Eliz. granted it to John Fisher, &c. It was a custom here anciently, that the tenants could not marry their daughters, nor sell any horse-colts foaled upon their lands, without consent of the Ld. of the manor. Here is a chapel, which has long since been annexed to the Ch. of Berkeswell, the parson whereof is to provide for the cure.
