BETHERSDEN, (Kent) a little to the S. W. of Ashford, in which p. there is a manor, called Bethersden Lovelace, from its ancient owners of that name, one of whom, a mercer of London, founded a perpetual chantry here, confirmed by Henry VI. but the estate was at length conveyed by Col. Richard Lovelace, to the Hulfes, a Cheshire family.
