Here is a deep orange-coloured sand, which is sent for by the artists far and near, to be used as a spaud to cast metals in; and it is allso noted for a quarry of remarkable stones lying horizontally one under another, in twelve beds deep, every bed thicker the lower they go; so that the lowermost is about a yard thick, and the inh. make cisterns, troughs, &c. of the stone.
