BRIDGFORD-EAST, (Nottinghamshire) or BRIDGFORD on the Hill, a little to the N. of Bingham, and 8 m. from Willoughby, was the manor of the Caltofts; from whom it passed to the Chaworths, and by them to the Scropes. The Roman foss-way comes from the vale of Belvoir, through a field near this T. in which there are evident remains of a Roman station near that called the old Wark-spring: and the field bel. to the T. in which part of the camp was, is called Burrowfield. Roman coins have been often ploughed and digged up here.
