BRIMPSFIELD, (Gloucestershire) on the r. Stroud near its rise, had formerly a castle, and a priory also, which was given by K. Edw. IV. to St. George's chapel, at Windsor. It is the manor of the family of Sandys, who have a pleasant seat and large park here. The p. is 6 m. in comp. and has 2 hamlets in it besides a small part of Bardlip T.
