BROOK, (Rutland) near Oakham, to which it is a chapelry, had once a priory, stands within the limits of the old forrest of
Lyfield, and was granted by Hen. VIII. to Anthony Cope, Esq; who in the next R. obtained a license to alienate it to the
ancestor of the present E. of Gainsborough.
