BUNNY, (Nottinghamshire) near Nottingham is the seat of Sir Tho. Parkyns, Bt. who built a fr. sc. here and 4 alms-ho. and erected the manor-houses of Bunny, and East-Leake, which he furnished with a park-wall of brick, 3 m. round, all raised on arches, the first of the kind built in England. This manor was granted in the R. of Hen. III. to the Freschevils, from whom it passed thro' the families of Belers, Swillington, Cromwel and Illingworth, till near 200 years ago, that it was purchased by Rich. Parkins, Esq; descended of the Parkins's of Berkshire, the ancestor of its present owner.
