CARLETON, (Norfolk) called also East-Carleton, or Carleton-Rode, from Walter de Rede, who was Ld. of it in the R. of Hen. III. lies on the N. E. side of Old and New Buckenham. The T. of Yarmouth being obliged to furnish the K. with 300 herring pyes, as soon as they come in season, sends them by the sheriffs of Norwich, to the Ld. of this manor, who, by the tenure, must carry them to the K. Mr. Peter Clayton was the Ld. of it not many years ago.
