CASTLI-CAREY, (Somerset) 3 m. from Wincanton, 96 cm. and 125 mm. from London, had a castle, which Will. Lovel its Ld. held out for the Empress Maud, against K. Stephen. It afterwards came, by the family of St. Maur, into that of Ld. Zouch, one of whose descendants having forfeited it by rebellion against K. Hen. VII. he gave the castle to Robert Willoughby Ld. Brook. Here is a Mt. on T. and Fairs on the T. before Palm-Sunday, and May 1. Here is a mineral water, of the same kind as that of Epsom.
