CLEYBROOK, GREAT and LITTLE, (Leicestershire) on the N. W. side of Lutterworth, supposed, by the inhabitants, to have been a part of Claycester, 1 m. from it to the W. which was once a flourishing city of the Romans, whose bricks and coins have often been found here. Sir Will. Dugdale observes, that the earth, so far as the city extended, is of a darker colour than the rest about it; and so rich, that it has been used by the husbandmen in the neighbourhood to manure their lands.
