CLIFF, (Kent) situate on a cliff below Gravesend; formerly called Bps. Cliff, or Cliff at Hoo, it being in the bailiwic of Hoo. The manor bel. before the Ref. to the mon. of Christ-Church in Canterbury; after which K. Hen. VIII. disposed of it to Geo. Brook, Ld. Cobham, in whose family it remained in 1643.
