CODSAL, (Staffordshire) on the b. of Shropshire, near the royal oak, is noted for a sulphurous well, with a mixture of salt, whose water was anciently counted a sovereign remedy for leprosies, and is used at present, both by man and beast against cutaneous diseases; so that many of the inh. boil their meat and brew with it.
