CRAMBORN, (Dorset) 76 cm. 98 mm, from London, is a pretty little T. well watered, and pleasantly situate in a healthy sporting country, near a chace which extends about as far as Salisbury, and has a house in it, which is a seat of the Earl of Salisbury, Ld. of the manor, to whom Cramborn has the honour of giving the title of Visc. the first that wore a coronet in this degree of the Peerage being Rob. Cecil, that had been secretary of state to Q. Eliz. whose successor created him first Visc. Cramborn, and afterwards Earl of Salisbury. Here was formerly a mon. built by K. Edward the Elder. Its Mt. is on W. and Fairs Aug. 24. and Dec. 6. A little r. runs from hence, which joins the Stour at the b. of Hampshire.
