CROMER, (Hertfordshire) 3 m. W. of Buntingford, in the road from Hertford to Cambridgeshire, bel. in the R. of Hen. III. to Philip Lovell, and, in that of Edw. I. to Roger de la Ley. In the R. of Rich. III. it was in the possession of his favourite Sir Will. Catesby; whose son, in the R. of Hen. VIII. sold it to George Clark and his wife, for their lives, with the remainder to John Clark and his heirs, who held this manor of the D. and C. of St. Paul's, London; one of whose posterity sold it to Matt. Scrivener of Walkerne.
