DALE-MAIN, (Cumberland) near Dacor-Castle, was the seat of Edward Hassel, Esq; held of the barony of Greystock, in Cornage, whereby the possessors of lands here were obliged, under the penalty of forfeiting them, to sound a horn upon the approach of the enemy, and to serve in the wars against the Scots, marching in the van and returning in the rear.
