ENGLEFIELD, (Berkshire) 1 m. to the N.W. of Theal, is also called Inglefield, had its name from the Danes being routed here by K. Ethelwolf, and gives name to a very ancient family, its owners. Their seat at the great house, called Inglefield-House, was the Marquis of Winchester's, and is now the seat of Paulet Wright, grandson to the keeper of the great-seal. The late Sir Charles Inglefield had a house lower down in the T. John Laroche, Esq; has a seat on Englefield- Green, which is in the p. of Egham.
