FENTON, (Nottinghamshire) on the E. side of Redford, gave name, as is supposed, to an eminent family, who, in the last
century, had an estate here. In later times the greatest part of this hamlet was the inheritance of Sir Francis
Thornhaugh, descended to him from his ancestors, and whose seat was here, as it is now of his heirs.
