FORDINGTON, (Dorset) near Dorchester, is the Prince of Wales's manor, as part of the duchy of Cornwal. Here is a Ch. with a handsome tower. The people rose in arms not very long ago, and prevented the farmers from levelling a great barrow. By an act of Pt. in 1746, obtained by that publick spirited Lady Mrs. Lora Pitt, a causey is made over the moor here, to the E. end of Dorchester, which, together with a bridge over the Froome, she agreed to maintain at her own expence for 3 years.
