FULHAM, (Middlesex) 4 m. from London, was in the Conqueror's time held of the K. by the canons of St. Paul's; and there is an ancient house here, which is moated about, and bel. to the See of London. King Hen. III. often lay in it. From this place to Putney there is a wooden bridge over the Thames, where not only horses, coaches, and all carriages, but even foot-passengers pay toll. The Ch. here is both a rectory and a vicarage.
