HARMONDSWORTH, (Middlesex) on the N. W. side of Harlington. The manor was formerly given to St. Andrew's-Abbey in Normandy; but K. Edw. III. seized it, as the estate of an alien priory, and K. Rich. II. alienated it to Will. Wickham, Bp. of Winchester, who settled it on his college, near Winchester; which continued proprietors of it, till Hen. VIII. by way of exchange for it, got the rectory and the advowson of the vicarage into his own hands.
