HENINGHAM-CASTLE, (Essex) to the S.W. of Sudbury in Suffolk, on the r. Coln, formerly the seat of the Veres Earls of Oxford, who founded a priory and an hos. here, and procured a Mt. here on M. now disused; but it has Fairs on May 3, July 26, and Dec. 6. It has since been the seat of Nich. Jekyl, and of Mr. Ashurst. Its Ch. is a donative, or curacy, not charged either with first-fruits or procurations.
