HERDWICK-PRIORS, (Warwickshire) on the N. E. side of Wormleighton, bel. formerly to the monks of Coventry; but after the Diss. was granted by Hen. VIII. to Sir Edmund Knightley, but was sold in the R. of Q. Eliz. to Ralph Blount, whose son sold it to Sir William Samuel of Northamptonshire, as did his son to William Ld. Spender, a son of whom was possessed of it in 1640. There is another HERDWICK in these parts, which was a member of Dasset, and bel. formerly part to the Sudleys, ana part to the Kts. Templars. The latter came afterwards to the Kts. Hospitallers, who enjoyed it till the Diss. after which their lands were granted by the crown to Edw. Aglionby and Henry Hugford, who passed them to Mr. Wotton.
