ILKLEY, (Yorkshire, W.R.) on the E. side of Skipton, near Wheatley-Spaw, on the S. side of the r. Wharfe, opposite to Stubham, appears to be very ancient, by the engraved pillars of Roman work lying in its Ch.-yard; and an inscription dug up near the Ch. not very many years ago, shews it was rebuilt by the emperor Severus.
