INGE, UPPER and LOWER, (Warwickshire) on the N. side of Stratford upon Avon, was originally a member of Hampton upon Avon, and then of Old-Stratford, it being purchased for John de Stratford, Bp. of Worcester, who gave it to a chantry in Stratford-Ch. but after the Diss. it was given, by Edw. VI. to Rich. Pallady and Fr. Foxhall, a mercer in London, to be held in capite. They passed it away to Tho. Hawkins, alias Fisher, of Warwic, who sold it to Will. Clapton, Esq; and it was afterwards sold to the Cokeleys; from whom Upper-Inge came to Mr. Farrein, and the Lower to Mr. Woolmer of Stratford.
