KEW, (Surrey) on the Thames, opposite to Old Brentford, has a chapel of ease to Kingston upon Thames, which was built on ground given by the late Q. Anne, at the expence of divers of the nobility and gentry in the neighbourhood. The late Mr. Molineux, who was secretary to his present Majesty when Prince of Wales, had a fine seat here, among other very pleasant ones, on the Green, said to have the best fruit in England, by that great statesman and gardiner the Ld. Capel. In the late Q's. time the Prince of Wales had this house, and her Majesty purchased Lady Eyre's for the Duke, and Sir Thomas Abney's for the Princesses Amelia and Caroline. Samuel Fortrey, Esq; who died in 1681, was Ld. of this manor. He was descended of a family in Lisle, who in the R. of Q. Eliz. took refuge in England for their religion.
