LAPLEY, (Staffordshire) on the S. W. side of Penkridge, had a priory formerly, which was a cell to the abbey of Rheims in France. The Lp. which bel. to it, was given by K. Hen. VIII. to Sir Rich. Masters. Here was the seat of Rich. Brook, Esq; 2d son of Sir Robt. Brook, Ld. Ch.-Just. of the common-pleas in the beginning of the last century.
