LEDSTON-HALL, (Yorkshire, W.R.) S. W. of Sherburn, was the seat of the Withams for divers successions, till one of them sold it to Sir Tho. Wentworth, afterwards Earl of Strafford, who made it a stately edifice; but the late Earl, William, sold it to Sir John Lewis above-mentioned, who walled in the park, and built a stately lodge, from which there is a prospect of York minster, &c. An heiress of Sir John being married to the Earl of Huntingdon, it is now the seat of Ld. Hastings. Here are several noted quarries of stone.
