LUTTERWORTH, (Leicestershire) 71 cm. 84 mm. from London, had for its rector the famous reformer John Wickcliff, who died and was buried here; but his bones were taken out of his grave, and burnt 40 years after, by order of the council of Constance. The pulpit he preached in is still preserved in its Ch. Dr. Busby, the noted master of Westminster school, was also buried here. The Mt. is Th. Fairs Jan. 6, 3 Ths. after Epiphany, March 22, Ascension-day. The Roman Watling-Street runs on the W. side of the T. The manor formerly bel. first to the Verdons, and then to the Grays, who forfeited it to the crown. The Fieldings, an ancient family in this shire, had their seat kere. In the neighbourhood is a petrifying spring.
