ST. OSITH, (Essex) or OSEY-ISLAND, in Maldon-water, or Blackwater r. is so covered with wild fowl at certain seasons, that many people come hither from London for the pleasure of shooting them, who often return with an Essex ague. This island is in the p. of Totham-Magna. On the shore here, where the colliers unload, are many borrows of earth, supposed to have been the graves of the Saxons and Danes.
