PICOTE'S, (Hertfordshire) near Bishop-Stortford, bel. originally to one Picote; after which it fell to the Hawkins, in
whose name the george-inn in that T. has continued about 300 years. The manor afterwards came to Mrs. Barrington, Mrs.
Dawks, and Mrs. Layer; but was purchased of them by Mr. Lowe, the grand-father of John Lowe, Esq; the present possessor.
