RERE-CROSS, (Yorkshire, N.R.) upon Stanemore, was erected as a boundary betw. England and Scotland, when William the Conq. gave Cumberland to the Scots, on condition that they should hold it of him by fealty, and attempt nothing to the prejudice of the crown of England.
