SALFORD-PRIORS, (Warwickshire) was vith the former given, by the name of Salford-Major, to the Abbey of Evesham, at its foundation, anno 714, and afterwards to the mon. of Kenilworth; but it being in the crown after the Diss. K. Ja. I. passed it with other estates to trustees, for payment of his debts, who sold it to Sir Simon Clerke, Bt. but it is now the manor of Sir Fulwar Skipwith, Bt. It is said to owe its name to a salt-spring, which was there formerly, tho' now choaked up.
