ST. STEPHEN'S, (Hertfordshire) near St. Alban's, bel. to its abbey formerly, but in the R. of James I. Edward Ld. Denny
conveyed it to Robert Briscoe, who sold it, in 1607, to Sir Baptist Hicks, (afterwards Visc. Camden) who built that hall,
called by his name, near Smithfield. It went by his daughter in marriage to Sir Charles Morrison, by whose daughter and
heiress it went, in like manner, to Arthur Ld. Capel, from whom the manor is descended to the Earl of Essex.
