STONE, (Kent) in Oxney-Isle, near the r. Rother, 4 m. S. E. of Tenterden, was plundered and burnt by the Danes, about the year 990. Here is a Fair on Holy-Th. The sea formerly came near it; and near the side of a marsh here are, or were lately, the ruins of a great stone building, supposed to have been then the merchants warehouses.
