STOWELL, (Gloucestershire) on the r. Coln, near Northleech, bel. anciently for a good while to the Martells, and was afterwards purchased by John How, Esq; who was paymaster of the guards, &c. in the R. of Q. Anne, the ancestor of the present Ld. Chedworth, who has a pleasant seat and park here. Its neat little Ch. is annexed to Hampnet.
