THORNEY, (Nottinghamshire) to the N. E. of Normanton, bel. in the R. of Edward III. to Sir Tho. Bret, and afterwards to
the Merings, who sold it to Geo. Nevil of Grove, to whose heirs it descended. Some lands here, which once bel. to the
priory of Broadholm, were granted by King Henry VIII. to Robert Brooksby and John Lyon.
