WASTS, (Northumberland) is the name of several places in Northumberland, especially in the valleys of Readsdale and North- Tindale, and the adjacent mountains; where a martial sort of people, like the ancient Nomades, lie among their scattered flocks, from April to August, in little hutts, which they call sheals, or shealings.
