WATER-CROOK, (Westmorland) a little below Kendal, has its name from the remarkable crooking of the r. Ken there. Near it,
on the same side of the r. are the banks and ditches of an old fort, supposed to have been Roman from the coins, broken
altars, and other antiquities found here.
