AKELY, a parish in the hundred of BUCKINGHAM, and county of BUCKINGHAM, 2 miles (N. by E.) from Buckingham, containing 295 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £6. 2. 4., and in the patronage of the Warden and Fellows of New College, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. James the Apostle. There was formerly a chapel of ease at Stockholt, in this parish.
