ALLESLEY, a parish in the Kirby division of the hundred of KNIGHTLOW, county of WARWICK, 2 miles (N. W. by W.) from Coventry, containing 844 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £17. 18, 9., and in the patronage of the Rev. William Bree. The church is dedicated to All Saints. There is a free school, towards the support of which Mrs. Flint, in 1705, gave by deed a small portion of land, and a house for the residence of the master. Vestiges of an ancient castle are "discernible in the parish.
