ALMER, a parish in the hundred of LOOSEBARROW, Shaston (East) division of the county of DORSET, 5f miles (S. S. E.) from Blandford-Forum, containing, with the hamlet of Mapperton, 188 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol, rated in the king's books at £13. 5. 8., and in the patronage of R. E. D. Grosvenor, Esq. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is a small edifice, rebuilt by Gen. Erie.
