ANSLEY, a parish in the Atherstone division of the hundred of HEMLINGFORD, county of WARWICK, Sf miles (W. by N.) from Nuneaton, containing 720 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £6. 6. 8., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Lawrence. The Oxford canal passes through the village: there are some remains of an ancient castle.
