APPLEDRAM, a parish in the hundred of Box-and-STOCKBRIDGE, rape of CHICHESTER, county of SUSSEX, if mile (S. W.) from Chichester, containing 133 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chichester, rated in the king's books at £14, endowed with £600 royal bounty, and £200 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Chichester. The church, which is in the early style of English architecture, with a shingled tower, is dedicated to St. Mary: the south aisle is separated from the nave by three pointed arches springing from circular columns, and a stone on the north side bears an inscription with the date 1394. The parish is bounded on the west by the harbour of Chichester.
