ARDINGTON, a parish in the hundred of WANTAGE, county of BERKS, 2 miles (E.) from Wantage, containing 403 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Berks, and diocese of Salisbury, rated in the king's books at £8. 7. 9., endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Christ Church, Oxford. The church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The- Roman Iknield-street passes through this parish, which is also intersected by the Wilts and Berks canal.
