ARLINGTON, a parish in the hundred of LONGBRIDGE, rape of PEVENSEY, county of SUSSEX, 3 miles (W. S. W.) from Haylsham, containing 614 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, to which that of Willingdon is annexed, in the archdeaconry of Lewes, and diocese of Chichester, rated in the king's books at £10. 6. 11., and in the patronage of the Prebendary of Woodhorne in the Cathedral Church of Chichester. The church is dedicated to St. Pancras. A priory of Black canons, in honour of the Holy Trinity, was founded here by Gilbert de Aguila, in the beginning of the reign of Henry III., the revenue of which, at the dissolution, was estimated at £191. 19. 3.
