ASHBY (ST-LEDGER'S), a parish in the hundred of FAWSLEY, county of NORTHAMPTON, 3 miles (N.) from Daventry, containing 272 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £6. 13. 4., and in the patronage of J. Ashley, Esq. The church, dedicated to St. Mary and St. Leodgare, is in the later style of English architecture, and contains a richly ornamented screen and rood-loft, and in the windows are some portions of ancient stained glass. The parish is bounded on the east by the Watling- street.
